A new employee began working at an animal shelter, and suddenly 50 kittens wound up beaten to death in a trashcan. Yes, this individual should face consequences for this horrendous act, and I hope he gets some serious psychiatric help.

On a related note, the first article also mentions that two people involved in this horse kill-pen ring were convicted of animal cruelty FOR SLICING OPEN A DOG'S NECK ON SNAPCHAT.

Those men got a fine, no jail time, and were banned from owning an animal for ONE YEAR.

All of this, despite the research that shows #AnimalAbuse is highly correlated with other forms of violence and is often the stepping stone to hurting people.

Much in the same way that lethal injection sanitizes the reality of state killing, the #HumaneSlaughter of animals still operates on the principle that humans have dominion over other "lesser" animals.

No matter how painless the killing is, it's killing nonetheless.

Clearly, there's no such thing as a truly #CrueltyFree life. But it does feel disingenuous to argue that life is precious until we want to eat an animal.
