Here's a small #wdpd2023 post from me.

I recently worked to try to collect what I could from foiaonline.gov before it was shut down on September 30. This was a unique website that allowed members of the public to submit and track FOIA requests to multiple US gov agencies.

I was only able to collect the JSON records for each request. But in the process I found out about much more comprehensive work that @archiveteam and @internetarchive had been doing for a year.

Leider ist die TIB aktuell nicht dpc Mitglied, aber seit der Verleihung des dpc Fellowships 2020 (immer noch eine riesige Ehre!) bin ich zumindest persönlich intensivst und auf Lebenszeit mit der dpc verbandelt 😜

Leider weniger bekannt im deutschsprachigen Raum ist die Open Preservation Foundation OPF. Und das, obwohl die von der OPF betreuten Tools (JHOVE, veraPDF, fido,...) weltweit genutzt werden! @tibhannover unterstützt OPF seit > 13 Jahren als Mitglied (via "Verbund dLZA der 3 zentralen Fachbibliotheken" mit ZBW und ZB MED). Seit > 11 Jahren sind wir im OPF Board aktiv.

Ein anderes wichtiges Thema für uns ist die Netzwerkarbeit. Das Thema der digitalen Langzeitarchivierung ist so umfangreich, dass keine Institution alle Themen alleine bearbeiten kann. Das bekannteste Netzwerk im deutschsprachigen Raum ist wohl @nestorNetzwerk - hier ist die @tibhannover Mitglied und wir sind in einer Reihe von AGs (u.a. Zertifizierung, Forschungsdaten, Community Survey, Formaterkennung, Media) aktiv.

"TIB Conservation Metadata" ist ein Data Dictonary & xsd Schema, das dem Zweck dienen soll den Zustand des analogen Ausgangsobjekt zu erfassen um dann mögliche Auswirkungen im Digitalisat interpretieren zu können. Während wir das (bisher) exemplarisch nur für Film definiert haben, sind wir der festen Überzeugung, dass solche strukturierte Info für alle Objektarten hilfreich ist! Für die Arbeit wurde uns 2021 der Angela Dappert Memorial Award verliehen.

Weitere spannende Materialien in unserem Digitalen Archiv sind AV Objekte - u.a. 1.953 digitalisierte ethnographische Filme aus der Sammlung des ehemaligen Instituts für wiss. Film (IWF). Die LZA war von Anfang an in den Digitalisierungsprozess eingebunden und konnte Vorgaben für Dateiformatwahl, Metadaten und QK-Prozesse machen. In diesem Rahmen ist auch unsere "Conservation Metadata Schema" entstanden.
