Istio: sidecar или ambient в 2026 — когда что и почему
Эра сайдкаров заканчивается. Ambient-режим в Istio достиг GA ещё в конце 2024-го, а к 2026 году для новых кластеров это уже режим по умолчанию. На каждой второй конференции звучит «сайдкары — это дорого, ambient — это будущее», и складывается соблазнительно простое правило: новый кластер → берём ambient, и не думаем . Это правило работает ровно до того момента, пока вы не выкатываете в ambient канарейку и не обнаруживаете, что весь трафик идёт мимо неё. Или пока ваша свежая AuthorizationPolicy молча не блокирует легитимные запросы. Или пока вам не понадобится зрелый мультикластер. Выбор между sidecar и ambient — это не тумблер «старое/новое». Это инженерное решение со своими компромиссами, и неверный выбор всплывает уже посреди внедрения, неприятными сюрпризами. В этой статье разберём, чем режимы реально отличаются под капотом, в чём главная ловушка ambient, что с ресурсами, апгрейдами и мультикластером, и как выбирать осознанно. Версии на момент написания: Istio 1.30.x, Kubernetes 1.32–1.36. Темы вроде статуса мультикластера быстро меняются — сверяйтесь со своей версией.

Hello team @meshtastic I have a question for you. In versions 2.5.X, i could enter waypoints. This is no longer the case in versions 2.6.X ????, which is a real shame. I use #meshtastic for first aid operations (association) and for emcom, #crisis #management and it's for this and other things, this functionality that pushed me to move to meshtastic ... can we expect the return of this functionality in the near future? In advance, thank you and bravo for your work.

Super stoked with the #Waypoint -> Remap news being confirmed!
Had been trying not to get too excited over the last few days as bits of it started leaking without any details (people reporting being charged by "Remap" when their subscriptions renewed, finding the Twitter account, etc.) and so it all being confirmed and out in the open feels great. Whoo :apartyblobcat:

Really sad to hear about #Waypoint shutting down. @patrickklepek has long been a favorite writer of mine, and the rest of the crew developed a totally unique voice in the space.
Hearing Patrick talk about questioning worth, and if he was able to do something else, was something I super identity with.
My dream was to be a games writer full-time, and I fulfilled that dream once. But then games writing in Australia became an almost impossible way to make a living.

Learning about #Waypoint and the layoffs have me sad. Once, they were the only journalists in games willing to interview me and a group of other marginalized people about harassment, abuse, and corruption in the corner of the videogames industry I was working in. Really sad to hear that they are being shuttered. I honestly think it's a mistake. This trend of chopping up culture and journalism because some shareholders want a bigger bottom line is such a mistake.

Who here is using the #Hashicorp stack to deploy a Rails app? I’m trying to avoid Kubernetes as long as I can.
Hashicorp #nomad seems awesome to do relatively traditional deployment (just run something on a port) while having automatic scheduling and scaling.Hashicorp #waypoint is really magic for a whole build, deploy, release cycle.
