You do the first color in one wax and then cut out the parts you want and press them into the seal. Then you press it into another layer of wax for multiple colors. Some people take this to a very high level. I learned from this video:

I wrapped a gift in a pre-used envelope, and then sealed it with a wax seal to make it more festive.
The first attempt was kind of a failure, so I poured more wax on it and did it again. I kind of like the result, even though it was because I wanted to fix a mistake

The little parcel that could has finally arrived. I ordered these wax stamps on January 4th. They have been working their way through the China and US postal services ever since, with multiple week-long+ gaps between movement. Another package my wife thought was lost arrived today, too.
But of course it arrives on a day when I have hours of laundry ahead and no time to actually try them out. Maybe tomorrow.

First attempt at making a two-layered #waxSeal
I feel I should choose a different background color, and I want more yellow in it, but it was a fun little experiment. -
Chaos in my homemade travelers notebook.
I took a moment to play with a #waxSeal (not entirely successfully), and then I found my #imageTransfer experiment, and suddenly, it became a fast #collage of stickers, tape, and paper scraps.
The image transfer is this image of a tree I found in an old book that was falling apart. I succeeded in transferring it onto acrylic gel medium, which I then pasted onto the cardstock. This is pretty funky because what was formerly paper is now translucent! -
Thought I'd give wax sealing a try, thought it looked interesting. The stamps are fairly inexpensive, some were only $2-3 from Aliexpress. Got a long way to go, though. It's trickier than it looks and the wax doesn't always get into all the stamp details. Some of these took 3-4 times before I got a decent result, but I'll get the hang of it eventually.
Some of these are for me, some for my wife, some both both of us.
Now maybe time for some letters.

Jak wykonać wosk do pieczęci lakowych? To pytanie jakie pojawiło się w mojej głowie podczas zabawy ze zdobieniem pieczęci, kiedy testowałam transparentny wosk. Nie przypadł mi on do gustu i pomyślałam sobie, że skoro go kupiłam, to warto go jakoś spożytkować. Zaczęłam myśleć jak i do czego go wykorzystać, wówczas pomyślałam że mogę użyć go jako bazy do wykonania własnych groszków woskowych do pieczęci lakowych.
Skąd taki pomysł? Otóż roztopione groszki transparentnego wosku okazały się w konsystencji przypominać rozgrzany klej termiczny (klej na gorąco). Postanowiłam iść tą drogą dedukcji i poeksperymentować. Wyniki moich eksperymentów możesz zobaczyć na filmiku:
Niemniej jednak postanowiłam co nieco podzielić się moimi przemyśleniami w tej kwestii.
Wosk do pieczęci lakowych – jak ja go wykonałam?
Wykorzystałam pałeczki kleju termicznego, stare świece oraz pigmenty (mika i shiny powder). Pracowałam z kociołkiem do topienia UTEE, silikonową formą do kostek lodu. Przydatne były również silikonowe: szpatułka i mieszadełko oraz łyżeczka do dozowania pigmentu.
Co jest ważne podczas pracy?
Najważniejsze jest zachowanie ostrożności podczas pracy z gorącą mieszanką. Niemniej istotna jest również ochrona podłoża – u mnie była to mata szklana. Kolor wykorzystywanego wosku ma wpływ na otrzymany kolor koralików. Ja korzystałam z zielonych i żółtych świec, które miały rdzeń parafinowy. Jednak część świec miała nadruk, który okazał się być wykonany jakąś farbą, gdyż zostawił mi drobinki w mieszance. Korzystałam również z marmurkowych świec szarej i czarnej – wszystkie kolory dostosowywałam do koloru pigmentu jaki dodawałam, aby uzyskać pożądany efekt. Pamiętaj, że pozostawione resztki wosku w garnuszku również mają wpływ na tworzony kolor koralików. Warto także przetestować partię żeby sprawdzić czy proporcja mieszanki jest właściwa.
Przetestowałam moje koraliki w praktyce i ogólnie nie jest źle. Co zauważyłam, to to że wosk zastyga nieco dłużej od tego dostępnego w sprzedaży. Jednakże pieczęcie nie są kruche, są elastyczne. Nie są jednak tak samo wytrzymałe na rozciąganie jak wosk lakowy. Dlatego też postanowiłam podczas kolejnych prób poeksperymentować jeszcze z mieszanką. Na chwilę obecną proporcje to coś koło 1:1 , czyli wosk w stosunku do kleju termicznego.

The skill of the medieval silversmith & the modern stonecarvers was celebrated in a third medium with our project mementos! These were made by Cameron Newham FSA, using photogrammetry, 3D-printing, & handpainting. Tiny medieval treasures & large stone sculptures are both hard to move: these small replicas are a delight!
