  1. #DougDiny was elected as mayor of #Wausau, #Wisconsin in April, defeating an incumbent, Katie Rosenberg. The mayoral race was officially nonpartisan, but Diny was endorsed by the WI #Republican Party & Rosenberg by the WI #Democratic Party.

[yet another lesson in #VoteBlueNoMatterWho folks]

  2. Bernarde said she reported #DougDinyโ€™s removal of the box to the DA of Marathon County & the #Wisconsin Elections Commission, referring to a portion of state #law that obligates municipal clerks to report suspected #election #fraud, #irregularities or #violations.

While the investigation is ongoing, she said, the #DropBox will not be available, but voters can deposit #ballots in a box outside #Wausau City Hall that is normally used to collect payments.

  6. #DougDiny saidโ€ฆWed that he had a โ€œphilosophical difference of opinionโ€ w/the city clerk, Kaitlyn Bernarde, over whether it should have been up to her or the City Council to decide whether to install a drop box in #Wausau, a city of about 40k people in #Wisconsin. The state Supreme Court ruling & subsequent guidance from the WI Elections Commission established that this authority rests w/the clerk [& is not in any way subject to some idiotโ€™s *philosophical opinion *].

  7. #DougDiny thought the City Council should have been consultedโ€”something the #Wisconsin Supreme Court did not require in its July ruling granting the city clerk authority โ€” & did not believe the #Ballot #DropBox would be secure. So he walked outside, removed the box & carted it into his office.

His actions, which HE documented w/photos & which The #Wausau Pilot & Review reported, are the latest example of a pattern that began around the 2020 election due to #Trumpโ€™s โ€ฆ[#BigLie] about voter fraud.

  8. Just another idiot #Republican who somehow managed to fail upward into elected office 100% breaking the #law:

A #Wisconsin mayor took issue w/a #Ballot #DropBox decision, so he just took it.

#DougDiny, the Republican mayor of #Wausau, WI, was working on Sun when he saw a ballot drop box outside City Hall, where it had been placed under orders of the city clerk.
