Probably the weirdest thing I've come across for a while.

"Seasteaders" think they can escape all sorts of political and environmental issues if they establish floating cities (aka "anarcho-capitalist communities") in unclaimed waters. After all, "food, water, and energy are abundant in the ocean". (Probably not for long, eh.)

Some #billionaires are keen on this idea (no taxes).

Ein Beispiel wäre #Waterworld mit der auf #Windenergie beruhenden Kultur der schwimmenden Dörfer - während die Kultur der "Bösen" auf Relikten aus dem Zeitalter #fossiler #Brennstoffe beruht.

Speaking of Waterworld, that's a film that's ripe for a reboot. It's an intriguing premise for a sci-fi story, and The Mariner was a classic 90s anti-hero. But given everything a creative writer could do with it, the wannabe Max Max 2 plot they gave us was... disappointing

I'd love to see some edgy writer and director like Lexi Alexander handed the project, and left alone by the studio to do it their way.

The problem would be to find any meaningful way to connect these into the closed story of #Waterworld...

It would require choosing more than just the #Mariner but a #faction - like the series #TheTribe did - and following a multitude of characters along.

And it would certainly be hard to get the canonically survivng old cast onboard...
