#Waterintoxication, also known as water poisoning or hyperhydration, is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions caused by excessive water intake that dilutes the body's electrolyte levels, especially sodium. It occurs when water is consumed faster than the kidneys can excrete it, leading to an imbalance of electrolytes and causing cells to swell.
