I overheard someone mention that they were glad that I was taking the time to help a man at work. I asked why, and I found out that everyone has been sending people to me, for the reason that I never yell or raise my voice or express irritation with people.
Around the office I’m known as the guy you send the dumbest people to, when they’ve done something unforgivably stupid, because I don’t make them feel bad.
Is that something to put on my resume?

终于看了Disney Nature新出的红毛猩猩纪录片，看完忍不住大哭一场🫠 红毛猩猩是我最喜欢的猩猩，而三个种类都濒临灭绝了。因为违法砍伐、树林逐渐稀疏，久居树顶的红毛猩猩越来越难迁移，无法和临近社群接触，基因健康逐渐下降。加上全球气候变化，食物越来越少，处境艰难的红毛猩猩只好保存能量、停止拜访朋友和玩耍。只有遇到难得丰收的雨季才可以看到红毛猩猩恢复原本的社会性行为，共享食物、互相打闹。想到地球可能有一天会失去红毛猩猩，真的好难过😭🦧 无话可说。

I’m so extremely frustrated with an old guy at work who refuses to learn version control. “I already got a PhD so I shouldn’t have to learn anything new” shouldn’t be a valid excuse, but apparently it is! So working with him is taking longer than I planned, so I will miss a deadline. 😡

My company decided to rapidly transition our 2-factor authentication system to remove SMS as an option this month, but they are refusing to buy smartphones for people who don't have them, and it's causing a shitstorm. They're literally giving people a few weeks notice to spend hundreds of uncompensated dollars or leave.

In positive news, at work, based on the last penetration test we have managed to get down to less than 50 major issues. Down from over 2,000 when I started 2 years ago.
So much PrintNightmare and EternalBlue, good god. Also password policies. Long complicated passwords on service accounts go so far. Force people to change their 17 year old service account password.

I (and several dozen other people) just got a support ticket where somebody wrote their username and password into the ticket. Like what.
