Koniec z protezą. WhatsApp debiutuje z pełną aplikacją na Apple Watch

To, o czym pisaliśmy na iMagazine.pl w kontekście testów beta, właśnie stało się faktem. Meta oficjalnie udostępniła pełnoprawną, natywną aplikację WhatsApp na zegarki Apple Watch.

To ogromna zmiana dla użytkowników, ponieważ dotychczasowa obsługa komunikatora na watchOS była bardzo ograniczona.

Przed tą aktualizacją, integracja WhatsApp z zegarkiem Apple polegała wyłącznie na systemowych powiadomieniach. Pozwalały one na odczytanie fragmentu nowej wiadomości i szybką odpowiedź. Brakowało jednak możliwości przeglądania historii czatów, inicjowania nowych rozmów czy odsłuchiwania popularnych „głosówek”.

Nowa aplikacja całkowicie to zmienia. Zgodnie z oficjalnym komunikatem Meta, użytkownicy mogą nareszcie czytać pełne wiadomości (nawet te długie) oraz widzieć więcej historii czatu bezpośrednio na nadgarstku. Najważniejszą nowością jest jednak długo wyczekiwana opcja nagrywania i wysyłania wiadomości głosowych.

To nie wszystko. Aplikacja pozwala także na wysyłanie szybkich reakcji emoji oraz wyświetla powiadomienia o połączeniach przychodzących (dzięki czemu zobaczymy, kto dzwoni, bez sięgania po iPhone’a). Meta dodaje, że poprawiono jakość wyświetlanych obrazów i naklejek. Co kluczowe, cała komunikacja na zegarku pozostaje chroniona szyfrowaniem end-to-end.

Nowy WhatsApp jest udostępniany jako aktualizacja w App Store. Do jej działania wymagany jest zegarek Apple Watch Series 4 (lub nowszy) oraz system watchOS 10 (lub nowszy). Firma zapowiada, że to dopiero początek i planuje dalszy rozwój aplikacji o nowe funkcje.

Ledwie dzień od pojawienia się oficjalnych aktualizacji systemów Apple udostępnia deweloperom nowe bety.

W przypadku większości systemów – nie ma znaczących zmian. Jednak w iOS 17.3 pojawiła się nowa, ciekawa funkcja zwiększająca ochronę dostępu do naszych danych w przypadku kradzieży telefonu.

Ochrona Skradzionego Urządzenia (ang. Stolen Device Protection) to funkcja przydatna szczególnie w wypadku nie tylko samej kradzieży, ale również znajomości kodu dostępu przez złodzieja. Dzięki jej włączeniu zastosowane zostaną dodatkowe zabezpieczenia:

• dostęp do zapisanych haseł, wyłączenie trybu zagubionego telefonu, wymazywanie iPhone'a oraz korzystanie z Apple Pay będzie działać wyłącznie z Face ID;
• zmiana ustawień Apple ID, zmiana kodu dostępu/Face ID, wyłączenie funkcji Znajdź itp. będą możliwe po upłynięciu godziny od momentu ich wywołania.

Oba warianty powyższych zabezpieczeń będą się załączać wyłącznie poza znanymi przez iPhone'a miejscami jak dom lub miejsce pracy, więc nie powinno to uprzykrzać życia w standardowych sytuacjach, gdy sami będziemy chcieli wprowadzić jakieś zmiany.

Oprócz powyższej funkcji, w pierwszej becie iOS 17.3 pojawiła się zapowiadana w Apple Music funkcja – kolaboracja.

Also! Two new and very welcome settings in watchOS 10.2:

• Enable the ability to confirm ending workouts in Settings

• Enable the ability to swipe to change watch faces in Settings

Both are for features where some people loved the efficiency of how they worked in watchOS 9 and found watchOS 10 to be a regression, while other people bemoaned that the way they worked in watchOS 9 caused them to unintentionally trigger things. Now people can choose and everyone’s happy!

On a brighter note, this bug where the Shortcuts “Start Workout” action would sometimes start the wrong Workout type on Apple Watch is fixed in iOS 17.1.x and watchOS 10.1.x.

Frage an die #AppleWatch-User: Hat sich bei Euch nach dem Update auf #watchOS10 auch die Akkulaufzeit drastisch reduziert?

Ich bin gerade sehr erstaunt, dass meine (zugegebenermaßen nicht mehr ganz frische) Series 4, die ich heute gegen 7:30 Uhr vom Ladegerät nahm, jetzt nur noch 12% anzeigt. Nach etwas über 12 Stunden! Die ist sonst locker über den Tag gekommen mit 2xGPS-Tracking à ca. 60 Minuten (was erfahrungsgemäß ca. 20% zieht).

Erst gestern Abend hatten wir berichtet, dass #Apple die Entwicklung von #iOS18 und #watchOS11 kurzzeitig auf Eis gelegt hat, um sich auf #Fehlerbehebungen der aktuellen Systeme zu konzentrieren. Zur eher ungewöhnlichen Zeit hat Apple nun neue #Updates veröffentlicht, unter anderem für das #iPhone, den #Mac und die #AppleWatch.

My experience is that it barely makes it through a day now, or randomly sometimes uses way more than it should and I have to put it on the charger in the late afternoon (never had these issues with the watchOS 9). Seems to be bugs… 😕

I’ve really given #watchOS10 a chance but I wish I could rollback to watchOS 9 😔 I never use the new widgets view and desperately want slide up from bottom to once again be Control Center and the side button to be my favorite apps. I also find it so perplexing that in order to chain workouts together I need to end my current workout in order to start the next one. Previously you could hit the plus button to start the next workout. These are huge regressions and I hear it from a bunch of people.
