#wss366 #MastoPrompt 12/23 (24 in Japan)Alone again, she faced the dark, cold road ahead. The wind picked up, so she hurried along as fast as the rutted road would allow. Trees pressed in on either side, blocking the dim moonlight. It was the kind of night when ghosts and phantoms emerged.
At first, she didn’t notice the sound carried on the wind: bamboo pipes, bells, and stringed instruments. It was a sweet, spectral sound, as haunting as it was alluring.
As she rounded a bend in the road, the darkness receded. Ahead, the path was illuminated by trees adorned with gold and silver tinsel, red berry garlands, and candles. There were so many tapers that they lit the road with a glorious brilliance. The music surged giving #office to the Goddess, reaching a climax. Then it subsided to a soft, melodic refrain.
In the middle of the clearing stood a table laden with fine fare: roasted pheasant, greens sautéed with chestnuts and almonds, holly-garlanded pudding, and a steaming bowl of wassail. Pickled wild vegetables, teapots, and all manner of side dishes were arranged around these.

The road leading down from the orphanage was rocky and rutted. In the dim evening light, Lily kept stumbling. She could have stayed with them, but that would have put a strain on their already overcrowded building. There was no way she could inconvenience them like that.
A sigh escaped her. She had planned to stay at an inn and warm herself at the #fireside, but the orphans' needs had been too great, so she gave the manager all her money. She would find a barn somewhere down in the valley to sleep in. No one would refuse a nun a place to rest, especially not tonight.
A voice called to her: "Alms. Alms for a poor blind man."
In the gathering gloom, she saw an emaciated figure with bandages wrapped around his eyes.
Another sigh threatened to escape her. "I don't have any money, but here’s the food I have."
Lilly handed him a small bundle containing a hunk of hard rye bread and a sliver of cheese. The orphanage manager had given it to her as she left. Lilly had hesitated at the offer. The orphans surely needed the food more than her, but merit was gained through giving, and she wouldn't be inconsiderate enough to deny the woman that.
The man felt the gift with his fingers and spat. "No doubt you want thanks, kind woman." He spat again and turned away, and tottered into the trees, grumbling.
The nun watched him go, saying nothing. Instead, she quietly blessed him and turned, starting back down the road.
It was cold, so she pulled her cloak tight and put her hands in her pockets.
"Goddess be praised!" she muttered. In a pocket, she found a crust of bread that had escaped prior detection.
"Squeak."
The sound caused her to look up. Beside the road was a #mouse, its paws raised as if begging.
This time, she let a sigh escape and threw the crust to the creature, which ran off with it.

I still buy some physicl manga. I do perfer it, but have no room to store it and there is so much. I am mainly finishing series I started before I went to emanga. Photo of this summers physical purchases, include She is So Cheeky For a Commoner and the next volume of My Job is Yuri, as well as two volumes of Whisper me a Love Song.

Published by Kodansha ComicsI couldn’t wait and boy, I am glad I didn’t. Vol. 11 is delightfully messed up. We learn more about Goeidou-san’s backstory. Man, she is a piece of work! We learn what Kanoko-chan is scheming. Poor Kanoko-chan. I don’t think I’ve read a yuri where the ships are more complicated. I still don’t know how they will finally resolve. The math just doesn’t work out (Unless we do poly math, which is too much to expect.)
I want volume 12 NOW. Will I be able to resist buying the EManga. And I really want Geoidou-san to get what she deserves.

Published by Kodansha ComicsI am enjoying the manga. The name put me off for a while, but I am glad I started it.
WataYuri can be read as a mild parody of S-type yuri or light-hearted yuri. A grounding is S-type yuri such as "Maria-sama ga Miteru" is needed for a full enjoyment of the series, but is not required. WataYuri stands up well on its own.
The setting of an RP café is well thought out, providing plenty of scope for the dual parody/serious dynamic. The characters are engaging, with enough “types” so everyone can find a character to fall in love with. I especially like “Chibana Sumika” the cool senpai/gyaru. The plot is nicely done, so you are unsure how things will work out. As of volume ten, I “think” I know how the final ships will work out. I could be wrong. There’s enough suspense and loose ends, I can’t be sure.
It is real yuri? Absolutely, S-type, parody, romance, unrequited love, triangles, jealousy, and even a fade-to-black sex scene in volume ten. (Don’t worry, our maids remain pure.)The anime is true to the manga, though lacking some of the depth, so if you like the anime you will like the manga.
I look forward to each new volume and enjoy re-reading prior volumes to remind myself of what is going on. Volume eleven is at the top of my reading list for my next camping trip. What more can you ask for?

I still buy some physical manga. Chiefly things I started in physical or things I really love. (Otherside Picnic and Inori-sensei (I'm in love with the Villainess etc.)) Just got my mid-summer shipment. All yuri of course.
I buy from an independent bookstore (So should you!) Mine is Powell Books. Just be careful if it's online it's not a front for Amazon they are actually behind a lot of what appear to be independent venders.

While I took a break yesterday from sharing anything Seiyuu related since it was late, here are some pictures from the WataYuri Radio Public Recording event.

CW: Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu! - Episode 12
A really great last episode! It doesn't feel the need to have an "ending", and it shouldn't because the story doesn't end here in any sense. Instead, we get another "episode as usual". All the drama from this season has already wrapped up, and this episode gives us room to breathe and reflect while also reinforcing where the characters and their relationships have ended up.
This is one where I think I'll try out the manga. (Though a second season would be welcome!) My only fear is that the cafe setting will get overly repetitive, though maybe it will be ok in the manga since it appears to be of the "character-focused light-on-background-art" type. #WataYuri #WatashiNoYuriWaOshigotoDesu -
