An amazing photo posted earlier today by @alexwild reminded me of these photos I took last year. I've just uploaded them to #iNaturalist.
It's NZ's largest parasitoid ichneumonid, Certonotus fractinervis. (I'm not aware of it having a common name.) It parasitises larvae of the NZ elephant weevil, Rhynchodes ursus, which bores into beech trees. A single dead tree in the Boyle forest was covered in them.

Unlike Alex, though, I don't have a clue what species most of mine are... I think this one is some sort of a horn tail wasp, and it was MASSIVE.
