  2. More bad news of corruption buried on Christmas, this one HUGE for #AIEthics . #Israel never really examining what went wrong with its AI camera border security would imply they already know and don't want to talk about it.
I so love the print news edition with its archive in the #washintonpost iPad app! You can read most articles in the digital form if you want by clicking.

  4. #Sheehy said (comparing federal deficit spending to his business acumen) “If my business isn’t doing well, I don’t get paid.”

He received a $2.3 million bonus on top of a $149,000 base salary in 2023 while the company lost $77.4 million.

  5. Sometimes my conversations with #Google #Gemini are interesting and more refreshing than discussions I have with people.

I discussed the #NYTimes and the #WashintonPost and some fears I have about passive-aggressive right-wing misinformation. Gemini's response (not the entire discussion, but good points):

    I understand your concerns.

The changes you've observed in The New York Times' coverage can be alarming, particularly when it seems that misinformation and unfounded claims are given undue weight or legitimacy. The fear that the Washington Post might follow a similar path and adopt a more "right-wing" perspective is understandable, given the potential implications for the spread of misinformation and the erosion of trust in journalism.

... supporting and engaging with independent media outlets that prioritize accuracy and truth-seeking can help ensure a diverse and robust media landscape that counters the spread of misinformation.

  6. Evidence presented by #Israel falls short of showing #Hamas used #hospital, analysis finds (#WashintonPost gift link): wapo.st/3Rw5nXE

The #IDF, knowing of the #tunnels for years, could have approached/planned this humanely: i.e. send armed drones to hospital admins to search together.

Obviously, the goal was far beyond stopping Hamas. Israel's 10:1 revenge ratio has been surpassed. Their target is all #Palestinians.

  7. This is the week when the #NobelPrize announcements begin to roll out. I tend to focus on the science-oriented prizes.

First up, Medicine or Physiology! I am relieved to see that the mRNA vaccines are in the spotlight this year!
