Been using PortAudio to handle audio stuff in a cross platform C++ app and it’s pretty easy to use. All three platforms work ok, but on Windows I can only get PA working when using DirectSound, not WASAPI. Whatever I try the PA errors out when starting the stream with some deep Win32 error that’s too generic to be actionable. Is Windows development always this awful? On Linux and Mac everything worked more or less directly as it should. Never on Windows.

Da werde ich wirklich fuchsig. Anscheinend haben die #Focusrite #Scarlett Audio-Interfaces der vierten Generation hohe Latenzen mit #WASAPI. #ASIO läuft hervorragend, aber NVDA und andere Programme, welche WASAPI oder #WDM verwenden, haben eine spürbar hohe Verzögerung im Vergleich zu Audient-Interfaces. Auch das Zoom H6E hat solche Probleme nicht. Ich werde es wohl zurückschicken müssen.

is there an open source or free audio recorder that supports #WASAPI loopback recording in #Windows, has the ability to easily add multiple markers while recording and is NOT #audacity ? #ocenaudio supports WASAPI but does not provide the loopback devices audacity does. I know I can install something like VB-Audio or banana, but I'm trying to reduce the number of all these misc drivers and apps needed to simply record audio from an app.
