Still hoping to hear from anyone on this subject, but so far the impenetrable Iron Curtain has not yielded any #WarsawPact Cold War tabletop #wargaming exercise intelligence….

I’m curious if anyone, especially in former communist European countries, recalls #WarsawPact institutions ever using #wargames to explore a possible invasion of West Germany? #WestEndGames classics like Air & Armor and Air Cav come to mind, though I know other titles exist in this genre.

In the 1970s & 1980s the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (#CSCE) in Europe did hugely effective work on reducing tension and building co-operation between #NATO and the #WarsawPact.
It's successor the #OSCE should have been the bedrock of European security after the Cold War. But instead, NATO fought hard to endure that military confrontation won.
