"Not only did its military attacks across #Ukraine intensify last month, becoming ever more deadly for civilians, Russia also appears to have escalated its sabotage campaign across Europe.

"This time, military and defence sector sites were the prime target.

"A full month after drones packed with explosives were found at #Leipzig 's airport, used by Ukraine to transport military goods, Germany's interior minister has declared that 'Russia is responsible'.

"Russia's President Vladimir #Putin is demanding proof, as always, and his officials call the accusation 'absurd'.

"But the #drones were just a dramatic start. August then brought a series of #SuspiciousFires at defence facilities from #Italy to #Estonia.

"Some of the affected countries have already blamed Russia; others are still investigating and some fires may eventually be ruled accidental, exactly as such attacks are designed to seem.

"#Poland 's interior minister is clear.

" 'There are many, many signals that Russia is changing its strategy and intensifying its activities, including terrorist and sabotage activities,' Marcin Kierwiński said, warning people to be on their guard."

Pro-Russian hackers claim responsibility for major #cyberattack on #Norway ’s public digital services

Excerpts: "A pro-Russian hacker group on Wednesday claimed responsibility for a cyberattack that has affected multiple Norwegian government digital services over the past three days.

"The cyberattack has been ongoing since Monday, said Are Kvistad, a spokesperson for the Norwegian Digitalization Agency (Digdir), the state body in charge of making Norway’s public services more digital and user-friendly, told The Associated Press.

" 'It’s the biggest attack against Digdir solutions that we have ever experienced,' Kvistad said.

"The denial-of-service attacks meant that hackers pushed massive traffic toward the agency in order to block services, including one that enables citizens to use one login across multiple public services."

"In 2025, Norwegian authorities said Russian hackers were likely behind suspected #sabotage at a #dam in the country. During that incident, hackers gained access to a digital system which remotely controls one of the dam’s valves and opened it to increase the water flow. A three-minute long video showing the dam’s control panel and a mark identifying a pro-Russian cybercriminal group was published on Telegram at the time, the police said.

"Last year, Danish authorities blamed Russia for carrying out cyberattacks against infrastructure and websites in #Denmark in 2024 and 2025. Danish officials said pro-Russian group Z-Pentest carried out a 'destructive attack' on the water utility company in 2024 and that a separate group, NoName057(16), was responsible for a cyberattack on Danish websites ahead of the 2025 local elections. " 'This easing alone by the #UnitedStates could provide #Russia with about $10 billion for the war,' Zelenskyy said. “This certainly does not help peace.”

" 'I believe that lifting sanctions will, in any case, lead to a strengthening of Russia’s position. It spends the money from energy sales on weapons, and all of this is then used against us,' Zelenskyy said at a news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron during a visit to Paris."

Aktionswoche für Schutz und Asyl für Kriegsdienstverweigerer*innen
Über 40 Friedensgruppen aus ganz Europa rufen vom 4. Dezember bis zum „Internationalen Tag der Menschenrechte“ am 10. Dezember 2023 zu Aktionen auf: Sie fordern Aufnahme und Schutz für alle, die sich dem Krieg in der Ukraine entziehen.

Seit Beginn des russischen Angriffs auf die Ukraine im Februar 2022 haben mehr als 250.000 Militärdienstpflichtige Russland verlassen – sie wollen nicht im Krieg gegen die Ukraine kämpfen. Die meisten sind nach Kasachstan, Serbien, Armenien oder Georgien geflohen. 3.500 junge Russ*innen haben in Deutschland Asyl beantragt. Das Bundesinnenministerium teilte im September 2023 mit, dass nur bei 400 Anträgen das Asylbegehren geprüft worden sei. 90 davon wurden anerkannt. Aus der Ukraine sind seit Kriegsbeginn mindestens 175.000 Militärdienstpflichtige vor der Einberufung geflohen – teilweise nach Deutschland, wo ihnen aktuell nur bis März 2025 Schutz gewährt wird. Auch in Belarus gibt es tausende Militärdienstentzieher.

„All diese Menschen wollen nicht Töten und sich nicht am Krieg in der Ukraine beteiligen – sie müssen dauerhaft Schutz bekommen“, erklärt Rudi Friedrich von Connection e.V., einem Verein der sich international für Kriegsdienstverweiger*innen einsetzt. „Sowohl aus der Bundesregierung als auch von der EU-Kommission gab es zu Kriegsbeginn Zusagen, diejenigen aus Russland aufzunehmen, die sich dem Krieg entziehen wollen“, so Friedrich. „Ein Schutzversprechen gibt es aber nur für russische Deserteur*innen. Alle, die rechtzeitig vor einer Einberufung geflohen sind, müssen mit einer Ablehnung im Asylverfahren rechnen“, zeigt sich der Militärdienst-Experte enttäuscht.

Gemeinsam mit weiteren deutschen und europäischen Organisationen hat Connection e.V. im Mai 2023 eine Petition mit knapp 50.000 Unterschriften an die EU-Kommission übergeben. Mit dabei war auch die Deutsche Friedensgesellschaft – Vereinigte KriegsdienstgegnerInnen (DFG-VK), die älteste deutsche Friedensorganisation: „Um den Krieg in der Ukraine zu beenden, müssen wir denjenigen, die sich dem Kämpfen verweigern, endlich dauerhaften Schutz gewähren“, fordert DFG-VK-Geschäftsführer Michael Schulze von Glaßer. „Kriegsdienstverweigerung ist ein Menschenrecht!“, macht er deutlich.

Um ein Ende der Verfolgung von Kriegsdienstverweiger*innen und Deserteur*innen in ihren Herkunftsstaaten zu fordern und den Druck auf die Bundesregierung und die EU zu erhöhen, Militärdienstpflichtige aufzunehmen, wird es in der Woche vor dem „Internationalen Tag der Menschenrechte“ – vom 4. bis zum 10. Dezember 2023 – zahlreiche Protestaktionen geben:

• Am 6. Dezember 2023 wird in Frankfurt am Main im Rahmen einer kreativen Aktion ein großes Transparent (ca. 16 x 4m) von einer Brücke gehängt werden.
• In Lübeck werden Aktivist*innen am 7. Dezember 2023 von 12 bis 18 Uhr am zentralen Kohlmarkt ein etwa 5m hohes aufblasbares zerbrochenes Gewehr aufbauen.
  Vor dem Brandenburger Tor in Berlin wird am 9. Dezember ab 11 Uhr eine Kundgebung mit Redner*innen aus Belarus und Russland stattfinden. Auch eine bildstarke Straßentheater-Aktion ist geplant.
• Am 10. Dezember, dem „Tag der Menschenrechte“ wird um 11 Uhr das Denkmal für den unbekannten Deserteur in Potsdam, Platz der Einheit, mit Blumen geschmückt. Gewürdigt werden Deserteur*innen und Kriegsdienstgegner*innen, insbesondere in Bezug auf den aktuellen Krieg in der Ukraine.
• Auch in Herford, Bremen, Göttingen, Halle (Saale), Kassel, Löbau, Mainz, Naumburg (Saale), Rostock, Schwerin und weiteren Städten sind Aktionen geplant. Zudem wird es in den Niederlanden, in Finnland, Belgien, Großbritannien und Griechenland Aktionen und Veranstaltungen geben.
