Our latest blog post dives into this curious comparison, inspired by a keynote from Caroline Muller (ISTA) on #MesoscaleConvectiveSystems, delivered at the WCRP Global #Hackathon.
Held in May and co-hosted by #nextGEMS, #EERIE, and #WarmWorld, the event gathered over 600 climate researchers worldwide to explore cutting-edge science through open #collaboration.

π£ Our #nextGEMS hackathon legacy just went global! π From May 12β16, over 600 people joined the first-ever global climate modeling hackathon, co-organized between the #WorldClimateResearchProgramme, #WarmWorld, #DesinE, and #ESMO.
π Across 10 locations, we explored #ClimateModeling, sparked new ideas, and created amazing climate #visualizations. The #Hamburg node, hosted at @mpimet, was only one of the many highlights of the week!

Today, the participants were able to get a close look at Levante, the Supercomputer at #DKRZ.
Levante has been operating since March 2022, increasing the computing capacity at DKRZ four-fold. Its main memory exceeds 800 Terabytes (about 100.000 Laptops) and the computing power 14 PetaFLOPS, which are mainly used for modelling purposes.
