  1. In part of honoring "never forget" beyond just an empty slogan, for eye witnesses to the Twin Towers falling (such as myself), hearing the President of the United States, fabricating a total fiction of what they did on 9-11, to the point their fake story was essentially an attempt at "stolen valor" against both the many victims and brave first responders, in past years would never have been considered "normal" or brushed off as not being enormously offensive. And in coming from an 80 year old with a long history of compulsively lying, as well as being borderline incoherent, in any other case in our nation's history than the political situation that exists today would have triggered bi-partisan calls for his immediate removal, due to not being mentally fit to serve.
What DJT DID do on 9-11 was, from a place in NY which was not ever effected by any damage at all, was to callously state to interviewers just hours after the Towers fell, that he was now the owner of the "tallest building in New York City" given that the Towers no longer held that record.
Beyond that - it is beyond sad to see that our nation has not only started to forget the events of the day of 9-11 itself (although given that at this point a 30 year old would likely have no direct memories of that day, it should be expected) - what is way more horrifying to me, is that so many people have forgotten or put out of their minds destructive and counter productive so many of the actions our nation took in response to that day - and that we are in yet another round of making similar mistakes.
Rest In Peace to all who perished on this day 25 years ago, - eternal gratitude to all the first responders that risked lives, limbs, and health in sacrifice to others that day - and hugs to all who lost family, were injured, or suffer from health issues from it.
And to all - PLEASE REMEMBER - the first responders on 9-11 showed what the best of humanity can look like, but in so many choices made after that day it showed the worst of what ends up being done in America's name - it's time to emulate the former and not the latter.

  2. #MichaelSavage’s #SavageNation episode that aired on #September11 is certainly offensive, especially by modern standards, but still worth listening to.

Why do you think that #GeorgeWBush was able to pass the #PatriotAct or justify the #WarOnTerror, attacking the #Taliban, #AlQaeda, and invading #Iraq on poor intel that they had WMDs?

Americans were willing to do anything to respond to a terrorist attack that deadly and of that scale.

  3. RE: psicospace.it/11-settembre-200

  5. Timothy Snyder: "The basic American policy response to 9/11 should have been to liberate ourselves from fossil fuels. Without our dependence on oil, we would never have been entangled in the Middle East in the first place. Most of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis, citizens of an oil kingdom that we helped to build, our “ally.”

  6. "In the years following 2001, the idea that the fight against terrorism must be carried out using militarized and exceptional measures became the norm globally. This occurred because other countries, such as Russia, China, and Israel, found in this counterterrorism framework an opportunity to legitimize their actions against internal and external enemies."

  8. "Mohamedou Ould Slahi (55) zat 14 jaar vast in Guantánamo Bay zonder formele aanklacht of beschuldiging. De brieven van en naar zijn familie in Mauritanië hielden hem op de been. [...]
Hoe pak je je leven weer op na 14 jaar gevangenschap, na marteling, het verlies van je moeder, na jaren waarin alles onzeker was? Het lukte hem door iets belangrijks te doen, iets wat zijn geloof hem leerde: door te vergeven. Zelfs zijn agressors in de gevangenis."

  9. How the U.S. government built a huge and hidden anti-terror apparatus after the 9/11 attacks.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Priest investigated the growth of a massive maze of clandestine government and private agencies aimed at fighting terrorism after the 9/11 attacks.

Secret efforts included a covert international war waged by the CIA that included drone strikes, black site prisons, and “enhanced interrogation techniques” widely criticized as torture; a domestic surveillance program that authorized the NSA to intercept certain telephone calls and emails of American citizens without a warrant; and other anti-terror programs.

This documentary shed new light on the nature, scale and scope of the government’s counter-terror operations after 9/11 — and explored mounting questions about those programs’ effectiveness.

In the run-up to the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Frontline is making a number of seminal documentaries from the days and years after 9/11 available to stream on YouTube for the first time. These documentaries offer a profound historical record of the attacks, what led up to them, the U.S. government's response, and the ripple effects across the U.S. and the world.

  10. 2/2

"De oorlog tegen terreur wordt inmiddels door de VS zo ruim geïnterpreteerd dat nu zelfs vermeende drugssmokkelaars, door de regering-Trump ‘narco-terroristen’ genoemd, op zee worden opgeblazen.

Cuba, samen met Iran en Noord-Korea op de Amerikaanse lijst van ‘staten die terreur steunen’, wordt volledig afgeknepen. In zekere zin is de oorlog ook ‘thuis’ gekomen.

  19. May I suggest to UK Labour that this would be another good case for the application of anti-terror laws? We can't have people taking direct action to clean up the waterways! Public order is the highest good!!!
