The amazingly well preserved Wanlockhead Beam Engine in Wanlockhead, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland's highest village. It was built here in the 1870s to help drain a lead mine that had by then been in operation for two centuries. Leadhills Station, on the Leadhills & Wanlockhead Railway in South Lanarkshire. Britain's highest adhesion railway reaches a height of 1,500ft at its Wanlockhead end.
