As the #sky was brightening but before the #sun had risen, the #Moon made its appearance in the east. It is in its #WaningCrescent #phase and probably the last time I will be able to #photograph it in this cycle (there’s a storm forecast for tomorrow and it will rise very close to the time of #sunrise).

After several mornings of negative or poor sightings of the #Moon, here it is in its #WaningCrescent #phase on day 23 after the last #NewMoon. The problems get harder from now as the Moon rises quite close to #sunsrise and so there is only a limited window of opportunity to #photograph it, especially since the days are getting progressively longer too. You can also see that the sky does not appear black.

I missed the #Moon yesterday owing to #clouds but here it is from this morning at about 05:10 UTC. You can probably see that the sky is not black here as it was #twilight and #dawn was approaching. This is the first #photograph I’ve taken of it in its #WaningCrescent #phase and I took it just before it was occluded. It’s was a sub-zero night and it snowed briefly soon after I took this #picture.
