  1. Olipa aivan huikean hyvä tuo Walter Isaacsonin 'Steve Jobs' -teos. Ei juurikaan tylsiä hetkiä ja jotenkin kuuntelemisen jälkeen jäi tosi inspiroitunut olo. Inspiroitunut mihin? No, en oikeastaan edes tiedä.

Kiinnostus Applen tuotteisiin heräsi kyllä. Ehkä sekin oli kirjan tarkoitus.

Mutta jo tarinana tuo oli huikea. Melkoinen sälli kyllä, niin hyvässä kuin pahassakin.

  2. I feel like weighing in on the discourse about #VivianWilson (#ElonMusk's daughter) and biographer #WalterIsaacson.

I agree with Vivian, that saying that having a daughter come out as #transgender is somehow what made #Elon go down this deranged "#Nazi-curious" spiral implies there is some blame to be put on her, but also completely discounts the man he was before she came out, the man he has always been: Elon Musk has Clinical #Narcissism. He has always been a control freak, an egomaniac, and an abuser, and all of these things lead to him embracing #authoritarianism, #patriarchy, and eventually #fascism.

He didn't buy #Twitter to get back at his transgender daughter, he bought Twitter for the same reason he's been so hateful to her: he doesn't agree with her decisions, and is enraged that anyone would have the audacity to ignore him, because, as a clinical #narcissist, he is incapable of accepting that his ideas aren't the best ideas ever conceived.

  3. This is both brutal and hilarious: "#WalterIsaacson is not a powerfully creative person. He’s one of history’s lickspittles. A court eunuch. The man who wrote '#ElonMusk.'" h/t @jeridansky thepointmag.com/criticism/very

  4. #BenTarnoff’s review of #WalterIsaacson’s #ElonMusk follows the advice about writing from Aristotle that he mentions within: the last sentence is predictable yet surprising. And sooo sooo good. Bravo.

"One way to keep Musk’s myth intact is simply not to check things out."

    The Verge:
How the Elon Musk biography exposes Walter Isaacson

"Walter Isaacson’s Elon Musk is a strangely incurious book. Its shallow reporting and bizarre skew left me with more questions than I had before I read it."

  10. Cleaning off my desktop... One more bit about #ElonMusk

    A Book Review:

    >>> Empathy Is Not an Asset slate.com/culture/2023/09/elon

    > "Elon Musk doesn’t tell us much about Elon Musk, but it just might tell you plenty about your next boss."

    Eh?

This tracks with the buzz I've seen, interviews with the authors, and comments about this almost breathless "excuse" for bad behavior, and elevation to near-sainthood of Lord #MuskVirus of #Muskville.

  11. We Don’t Need Another Antihero
In Walter Isaacson’s new biography of Elon Musk, the focus on psychology diverts us from the questions we should be asking about the world’s richest man.

  12. #WalterIsaacson’s insight-free doorstop makes at least one thing clear: the richest man in the world has a lot of growing up to do

"To his credit, Isaacson is a master at chapter breaks, pausing the narrative when one of Musk’s rockets explodes or he gets someone pregnant, and then rewarding the reader with a series of photographs that assuages the boredom until the next descent into his protagonist’s wild but oddly predictable life."
