  1. The #Waitangi Treaty Grounds are the location where, in 1840, the #Maori and British signed the document that created the New Zealand that we know today. Admission is expensive, but definitely worth it. Have you been there? #NewZealand backpackandsnorkel.com/Paihia/

  2. Do we know who is going to be responsible for writing the NZ citizenship test?

I believe it should be a non partisan group organised and agreed to by representatives of the original parties that agreed to the #Aotearoa #NewZealand founding document #TeTiritiOWaitangi and that would be the NZ Governor General who represents the #British Crown and a #Māori representative group made up of members from the #Waitangi Tribunal, Urban Māori Authority and Iwi Runanga (Tribal Councils).

There should also be public consultation and input into citizenship test before making any final decision. #NZPol

  5. Would those people who reject kura kaupapa and giving effect in #education to the treaty of #Waitangi also say that flying a #NewZealand flag is the government's responsibility and it should not happen in schools? See it all depends, literally, on what you stand for. #nzpol #aotearoa theguardian.com/world/2025/nov

  20. In an embarrassing FU to the people and founding agreement of #Aotearoa #NewZealand without regard to the fact it is #TeTiriti that grants him a right to govern, #NZPol Coward in Chief Chris #Luxon will not attend Waitangi Day celebrations next year. Luxon will also not go to #Waitangi for talks with the Iwi Chairs Forum on the 4th, and won't be there for the annual political talks on the 5th either.

  23. Pahia, 1965. The Fortepan archives have a lot of photos taken by Hungarians when abroad. So I was delighted to come across this one taken in 1965 outside the Te Tii Marae at Waitangi. Aotearoa is about as far away from Hungary as you can get, and there weren't many visitors from Hungary back in the 1960's, so it is nice to see this visit by a Hungarian recorded and preserved in Fortepan.
