  1. Visibility in Portland has been varying in smoke. An hour after the previous pictures in 3mi/5km visibility, I got pics of this British Airways 787-10 Dreamliner inbound from London LHR. Visibility had improved to 5mi/8km+. The plane was 2mi/3km away (twice as far) on final to PDX Runway 28R, which is the closest runway to the international arrival gates. The plane would have been barely visible an hour earlier, and no chance of the far pic. #ORfires #WAfires #ORwx #WAwx #aviation #avgeek #PNW

  2. Smoke has affected visibility in Portland since winds turned from the east on Monday. These two planes were each a mile away on approach to Portland #KPDX Runway 28L.
    * SkyWest/Alaska 3041, Embraer E175 N413SY coming from Eugene EUG
    * Alaska 712, Boeing 737-800 N537AS in Pixar Pier special livery coming from Santa Ana/Orange County SNA

    These hazy pictures should have been clear with SLR camera optics. Visibility was ~3mi/5km. #ORfires #WAfires #ORwx #WAwx #aviation #avgeek #PNW

  5. #WAfires - #Australia #wildfires
    A #bushfire threatening lives and homes in #Perth's hills has been upgraded to emergency level and authorities say strong gusts of wind are fanning the blaze.

    An evacuation centre was set up at Brown Park Recreation Complex on Salisbury Road in Swan View.

    #Pets, except for recognised assistance #animals, were not allowed inside evacuation centres for health and safety reasons.
    People should make alternative arrangements for them. If this was not possible, people should still proceed to the evacuation centre with their pets and await further advice.
