One of the biggest milestones was the brand new job listing feature with all the bells and whistles. This brings vutuv from being a read only profile network app to an actual two-way job search platform.

You might add an issue to their tracker to make them aware of that. I did that a lot in the past, or added info to existing issues. It works. Most recent project to implement #ActivityPub and join the #fediverse on this basis was #Vutuv, a jobs social network (LinkedIn alternative). I also just added an Instant messengers category to the delightful fediverse experience curated list..

Was ich vom Netzwerk vutuv.de halten soll und ob ich mich weiter damit beschäftigen werde, weiß ich noch nicht. Vor 9 Jahren habe ich mir dort wohl mal einen Account angelegt und kürzlich kam eine E-Mail, dass man nun wieder aktiv am Netzwerk arbeite. Ok.

Womit ich nicht gerechnet hatte: Unter den Einstellungen findet sich ein Abschnitt „Fediverse“, in dem sich eine Verbindung hierher aktivieren lässt:

„Mastodon und viele weitere Dienste bilden ein großes, offenes Netzwerk: das Fediverse. Wenn Sie teilnehmen, können Ihnen Menschen von dort folgen, und Ihre öffentlichen vutuv-Beiträge erscheinen in deren Timelines, ganz ohne vutuv-Konto.“

When #vutuv was recommended to me in 2024, I got excited to have a #LinkedIn alternative. The app looked clean and exciting. I created an account, filled out my profile and then I got a little sad: The idea was great but it was in an early stage and there was not much to do. So I turned away. But this Friday, vutuv sent out an email and announced, it came back from a deep slumber, awakened by @wintermeyer 🥳

vutuv is a free and fast open source career network alternative to Microsoft’s LinkedIn, but without spamming and post updates

Think of it as a free, fast and secure open-source alternative for LinkedIn or XING (remembering that LinkedIn has featured plenty of times as the number one collector of user metadata, even above Facebook). This is one of the very few fully open source alternatives to LinkedIn. It is designed around speed and lack of clutter, so it is suited to slow network speeds.

Your profile consists of job experience listings as well as tags to identify your various skills. Users can follow and vote up those specified tags.

There are no status update posts, and also no user to user messaging, so this keeps everything very focussed and spam free. A profile can optionally publish an e-mail address, and have links to other sites and to social media accounts, as different ways to contact a person.

It's not all perfect though as some concerns are the last code submit was 17 months ago, and users have been asking for a proper listing functionality for certifications and education, along with books / papers published, and also for Mastodon accounts to be linked to profiles.
