Watched 'The Banshees of Inisherin' (Martin McDonagh, 2020) on #VRTMAX . A beautifully filmed, and well acted movie about male friendship and loneliness. And it proves that a movie doesn't need to last two hours or longer to be good.

Also watched C'mon C'mon (2021, Mike Mills) on #VRTMAX last week. Fabulous photography; great acting; good script; not very interesting interviews with children thrown in.

Oh, great: Drive (2011, Nicolas Winding Refn) is on #VRTMAX. Had to take that opportunity to rewatch it after all those years. Not as flawless as I remembered it, but still very very good.
And if my memory serves me right, I saw Ryan Gosling next in The Place Beyond The Pines (2012) and Only God Forgives (2013). What a streak of excellent #movies.

Licorice Pizza (on #VRTMAX) is great. Not that I would expect anything else from a P.T. Anderson #movie. But here he does it without the brooding, menacing tension that is so present in his other movies. But it's so skillfully made and so well acted that you just don't want it to end.

Nog eens over de film 'Ich bin dein Mensch' dewelke Canvas gisteren beschikbaar had en dat toch wat indruk op me heeft gemaakt...
Het kadert ook wel in het thema van deze (warme) week: 'eenzaamheid'

Hoewel Tom in staat was om Alma alle aandacht te geven die ze wou, voelde ze zich toch eenzaam. Dit suggereert dat er een diepere behoefte is aan menselijk contact, iets dat technologie waarschijnlijk nooit volledig zal kunnen vervangen.
Deze (nu nog) #sciencefiction #film is van 2021...
