  1. Voted! In and out of my new polling station in two shakes of a lamb's tail.

Thank you to the polling staff as always!

If you haven't voted yet, a reminder that I am suggesting people vote Yes to the family amendment and asking you to vote NO to the Care amendment #VoteYesNo

  4. Did you see what got leaked last night?I hate that voting YesNo will leave the sexist language in but it's absolutely essential we don't allow the state to shirk it's social responsibility to people with disabilities: thejournal.ie/referendums-atto

  9. "The care amendment and single issue feminism" by Prof Siobhán Mullally.

Mullally is brilliant. The provisions of Article 42 were wrong to begin with in 1937, and a betrayal; and a new wrong Article in 2024, another betrayal, won't make anything right.

  14. "A thing that people not yet disabled don't get, is that being disabled is a full time job. Endless paperwork and deadlines and bureaucratic minutiae to process and navigate and stress over, etc.

When you become disabled, which you will, your time and energy are assumed to be worthless.

You will spend 6 months at a time navigating a time-consuming process at a time, leaving only heaps of paperwork to show for it."

  24. As promised, more #CareRef links from people asking you to #VoteYesNo on Friday.

Why are so many disabled people and carers saying the proposed 42b amendment is dangerous, but we aren't as worried about the old wording about women doing harm?
Because Irish society is at a place where any mainstream political party trying to base policy around women belonging in the home would get their arses kicked at an election.

    But...

  30. I am not seeing much referendum chatter outside of Twitter, so over the next few days I'm going to pull together a list of articles and posts by members of the #VoteYesNo campaign.

#VoteYesNo is being pushed by disabled people like me, and carers. We are suggesting Irish citizens vote Yes to the family amendment (white ballot) but we are asking you to vote No with us to the 42B amendment (green ballot).

The gov have chosen wording that lets them wriggle out of their responsibilities. I won't help them do that with a Yes vote

  40. In relation to the upcoming referendum on the care amendment, it seems that many carers and people with disabilities are being ignored.
