It's shameful that this election is as close as it is.
A competent opposition would crow about how we had a world leading pandemic response, saved countless lives and eliminated the flu at the time. While the current lot are letting the health system collapse under the flu because all the funding has gone to landlords who don't need it anyway.

The origin of #SARSCoV2 (#COVID), 1) wild caught, #wetmarket vs 2) #labaccident vs 3) some yet to be discovered mechanism -- is #unknowable.
Most of the non-genetic evidence is in #China and withheld by the Chinese government. Even with such evidence we might not ever know for sure.
Good faith researchers can disagree on this and that's okay.

So, #ChatControl was voted down by the EP in March and expired on April 3, yet today the Council's revival, pushed with Metsola's backing, cleared Parliament anyway, despite years of democratic pushback from civil society, subject-matter experts and watchdog groups. Granted, this is a "temporary"* regime that excludes chat apps that default to #E2EE - such as SimpleX Chat and others (IF the Council accepts the specific amendment).
The point, however, is how this happened. Questionably legal, "urgently" voted on using a rarely-used procedure while a significant number of key MEPs were on holiday (according to Martin Sonneborn). Blocking it needed 361 votes, opponents mustered 314, with only around 600 MEPs present on the last day before recess.
This is not the EU I work day in and day out to help evolve in my own little way. This is exactly what I'm fighting against. Take notes on everyone involved in this sacrilege of a manoeuvre.
Chat Control 2 is the next monster to fight. Vote out all parties and representatives who don't take the time to educate themselves on how privacy and child predators work, or are just outright malignant.
