CW: Danza de espejos (Las aventuras de Miles Vorkosigan 9) - Spoilers 35%
Pues estoy retomando la lectura, la primera vez solo me leí el primer capítulo xD, buff esta historia me está maravillando y me sorprende que esté funcinando tan bien si tenemos en cuenta que falta el protagonista.
Mark me da pena y a la vez me repugna, es increíble lo bien que lo hace la autora con este tipo de personajes. Y Elena, Quiin, Bel... Todes están cargando muy bien el peso de la historia. Llevo el 35% y acaban de descubrir que Miles ha sido mandado por correo express xD

CW: Cetaganda - Vorkosigan Saga
Ayer por fin me terminé el libro xD Se me hizo algo pesado, pero creo que ha sido por leerme tantos seguidos porque ayer me faltaba un 30% y me lo leí en una tarde.
Vamos al libro, mirándolo con perspectiva, es un libro muy lioso, sobre todo al principio, muchos personajes, la cultura de Cetaganda y creo que hay cosas que podrían estar explicadas mejor. Pero es muy divertido, Iván y Miles hacen una pareja genial y puedes ver la desesperación de Iván creciendo página a página y el final me ha dejado con intriga, tiene pinta que Cetaganda saldrá más adelante en la historia y puede ser muy interesante tener ya el conocimiento de como funciona ese imperio en una posible guerra a futuro.
El siguiente que me toca es Ethan de Athos, he leído la sinopsis y pinta interesante, posiblemente me ponga a leerlo cuando me ponga al día con los cómics.
Por cierto, estoy pensando en empezar a comprarme en físico los 15 libros de la edición de bolsillo que me parecen preciosas.

Continuing the Vorkosigan reread:
In "The Vor Game" Miles' genius is blended with more awareness of the stakes - more humility - and I find him much more appealing.
The part where he and Gregor are playing off each other to manipulate the crazy mercenary had me jumping up and down with excitement! So good 😁
Pretty much everything Miles achieves through this book is through him talking and putting himself at risk, and it's thrilling throughout.

In "Mountains of Mourning" he is much less showy and impressive (despite some piercing insights into the people around him) but we see clearly his honour, his self-sacrifice.
This short novella (which won a Hugo and a Nebula) is key to who Miles is, and it's his personal commitment here to a dead child that ultimately turns out to be so important many books later.

In the first we get his brilliance, his ability to inspire loyalty, his unstoppability - but also some of his greatest failures: all the deaths and lies spiral from his overconfidence and unwillingness to admit defeat. At the end he feels ashamed of the cheers of "Admiral Naismith", despite his successes.

"The Warrior's Apprentice" and "Mountains of Morning", the two first books about Miles Vorkosigan, and establishing very different aspects of him. (1/3)

Lois McMaster Bujold is one of my favourite authors. I recently reread "Shards of Honor" (her debut) and its sequel (continuation?) "Barrayar".
Such excellent sci-fi, with a mature, competent, female protagonist; painful ethical decisions; vivid characterisation; beautiful romance. Situations where doing the right thing is almost impossibly hard, and you have characters who rise to that.
Read it if you get the chance!

Finished season 3 of the excellent Umbrella Academy.
I heard a rumor that Aidan Gallagher (Five) has been cast as Miles Vorkosigan.

The back of her trading card does mention she had a Klingon father and Human mother.
Klingon/Human romance is a real potential fertile ground for fiction. Notably Lois McMaster Bujold's long and wonderful Vorkosigan series started as a bit of an idea about such a romance, which shows in the early part of Shards of Honor.
Contrary to rumor it was apparently never written as a fanfic but the influence is still there.
