  5. Khronos has formed a Volumetric Media Subgroup to extend glTF for interoperability across the volumetric pipeline — capture, encoding, streaming, and playback. The effort includes a liaison agreement with the Volumetric Format Association, which will adopt glTF as its primary format for future specifications.

    Any organization is welcome to join and contribute. Full details at the link.

    In this short tutorial I show you how to add volumetrics to a scene in Blender. But we do something more than just dropping a cube into the setup and add a Volume Scatter node in the Shader Editor. We add another Scatter node, spice it up with some noise and mix it with the first Scatter to add some fog.

    It's not actually doing any lighting currently; the color is derived solely from density
