Evening update: The fire is 2,879 acres & 17% contained this evening per San Bernardino NF. 724 personnel are assigned.

Due to the favorable weather today, fire crews were able to put in more handline and continued to mop up the edge of the fire. The cooler temperatures and higher humidity helped the firefighters going direct on the fire perimeter and kept the fire south of the 3N06 and 3N06D spur roads.

Tomorrow thunderstorms are expected into the evening with wind gusts up to 20-30 MPH. This weather will present challenges on the fire and test containment lines that are already in place.

The fire was mapped at 2,810 acres as of approximately 12:30am this morning during an infrared mapping flight. For the second night in a row, there was no heat detected from the long range spot fire located to the north-east.

Note: this new perimeter is not yet on the active perimeter map from the National Interagency Fire Center within Watch Duty. This post will be edited once it is visible on the map.

The fire was mapped at 2,700 acres during an infrared mapping flight as of around 2am this morning. No heat signatures were detected on the spot fire located 3/4-1 mile north-east of the main fire that was first reported yesterday.

Note: This perimeter can now be viewed as of 8am by toggling on the Active Fire Perimeters layer within Watch Duty

Crazy that I could see the Vista Fire from an airplane last night and it was huge and absolutely roaring, even from over 30k in the air.

I was on the wrong side of the plane to see the Lake Fire, but the sky looks ominous from it.

Checking McClellan Fire Airbase today for large airtankers. LAT103 is on the tarmac…she arrived from Wichita on June 16 and fought her first fire of this #Californiawildfire season on the 17th doing drops on #VistaFire near #ElDoradoHills in El Dorado Co. She remains the first LAT to arrive this season and is on the tarmac with the CalFire tankers and air attack fleet at MCC Sacramento #avgeek #wildfires
