Predictable quotas, fleet modernization, and attracting young talent are top priorities and will underpin #Vision2040 and the #OceanAct. We also looked ahead to the next #MedFish4Ever Ministerial Declaration and the importance of cooperation in the Med to rebuild fish stocks. We want to see modernised fishing boats in our ports, young people joining the profession, and a vibrant sector , resilient to external shocks, be it consequence of climate change or geopolitical dynamics.

With high fuel costs and the challenges of Brexit, the sector is navigating rough waters. But the EU is here to help. #EMFAF funds are supporting innovation and helping young fishers start their careers, and #Vision2040 will focus on energy transition, generational renewal, and fair competition.

The evaluation shows real progress in reducing overfishing and strengthening science-based fisheries management, but also tells us that challenges remain, in particular the need to strengthen the sector’s economic resilience and look at simplification.
