#Santae, the virtual pet site that fired me after two weeks working there because the owner and one of his admins started a conspiracy theory that i was an evil infiltrator because my voice sounded androgynous, has just closed after a few months of slow implosion.
I'm not sure how I feel. I don't think it was ever going to improve because the problems were so systemic and high-up. This is not the owner's first failed pet site and if he had been clear about his identity I know that many people wouldn't have funded it. I was never going to go back to normally using it after my experience working there. It's still sad to see it go because people poured their money and time into it, and there are artists that have still not been paid by the owner.
I'll be updating my page of #virtualPets named after my wife at https://luckydevil.nz/bo shortly to reflect the site is not coming back. I'm happy I already had this screenshot, since everyone was given under ten minutes warning in the Discord before the server was nuked and the site went down!

I am going to create the @tamagotchi group if it doesn't exist, because I want more places to talk about tamas :tama_uni_logo:
If you're not aware, groups on mastodon boost anything that is posted that tags the group to all the followers of the group. It's a way to engage in a special interest, without having to follow someone you otherwise have nothing in common with. Normally, if you just use a hashtag, that will only federate to instances you already have a connection with, but if you use the group, that will always boost to everyone following the group, which will help you get a better reach. Think of groups like a supercharged hashtag for the fediverse. If you like tamas, follow @tamagotchi and tag it in your tamagotchi posts and you'll be helping the group grow and reach out to more instances :blue_heart_sparkles:

It has only been a few weeks since the initial status report, but there’s plenty of activity to report on. The goal is to have a monthly update at minimum, but there’s no rule against posting too much!
The big items are: NPC shops are working nicely, and the admin panel is blocked in.
