I’m just going over the cast of #WhiskeyCavalier and I’m just now realizing that every member of the main cast except for one fits into traditional racial and gender stereotypes.
#ScottFoley and #LaurenCohan, the white members of the cast, are both the main characters and romantically involved. The tech guy, played by #VirDas, is an Indian. #TylerJamesWilliams, who plays the comic relief character, is a black dude. The only person who doesn’t fit neatly into stereotypes is #AnaOrtiz, who plays an #FBI profiler.
I wonder if I watched this show back, I’d find it to be racist lol

I found this new comedian tonight. His name is Vir Das. He’s smart, funny, insightful, blah, blah, blah. Whatever. Dime a dozen these days.
But compared to most South Asian comics I’ve seen he does two things very differently.
1. He’s angry. Not bemused. Not slightly irritated. He’s pissed.
2. He’s proud of India. He doesn’t see what’s so great about western culture.He’s a very western comic in that regard. To me. But he’s sharp as shit.

He’s the best sort of comedian. A philosopher that tells jokes. Plus, know I have to try to get back to Prague and visit Coffee Coffee!

Some people are equating #VirDas and Munawar Faruqui coz they both got into trouble over their comedy. A complaint was filed against Das. Faruqui was ARRESTED. Das was addressing a full house (of …) at Kennedy Center while Faruqui’s Goa show was cancelled.
