    Although this year’s challenge doesn’t include a theme, I decided to bring a bit of history into today’s task.

    Using , I styled current OpenStreetMap data of in the aesthetic of 19th‑century maps. The polygon boundaries were given a Raster Image Fill, with sampled colours directly taken from old maps of the area. To enhance the look, I also used geometry generators to style the water bodies.

    Birmingham city centre was largely destroyed by heavy bombing in the Second World War, and has both suffered through and benefited from extensive reconstruction since.

    This #map was published in 1905 and thus shows #Birmingham well before the bombing or any modern changes.
