  1. Vintage Sinclair HC gasoline pump made by Bowser.

Mechanical counters tracked gallons and price long before digital pumps. The worn metal and “contains lead” label mark another era.

Machines like this never stop being fascinating.

  5. Well.. finally got the jointer tuned and working much better than it was before. it's not making chopsticks out of wood anymore. so that's a win. I also took opportunity to play with gopro and davinci resolve while I was at it. Today I learnt how to do simple transitions in DR. gotta love being able to combine multiple hobbies into one.

  9. Today wasn't my day in the shop. so I figured I would just take a break for a while. I was jointing some reclaimed 2" thick lumber.
I started jointing boards and one of the boards was twisted . so I am carefully applying pressure to remove the twist and I realize that twist was becoming worse. so I go back to 3 boards that I had jointed before this and found out that they were getting tapered. I hadn't used the jointer pretty much since we moved here as I have mostly been turning. careful exam revealed that one of the shims I had applied to infeed table during restoration had fallen away and infeed table was sitting crooked.

Now I have to loosen the infeed table, put in the shim again, tune & all that is going to take good solid 3 hours ... I really need to get in the habit of checking my machines before I start a project that is going to need them.
