  1. Canada's First Air Stars: The Siskins

The RCAF's first official aerobatic team was the Siskins, formed in 1929. Flying Armstrong Whitworth Siskin biplanes, the three-pilot team amazed crowds across North America, including at the prestigious National Air Races in the US. They pioneered precision formation flying in Canada's air force but were disbanded in 1932 due to Great Depression budget cuts. #Canada #RCAF #VintageAviation #Aviation #History 🇨🇦

  2. Hello everyone. Making my first post today. I'm brand new here, just looking for a quiet, peaceful space and hoping to find some good people to chat with. Testing things out with a picture of my dog. Hope everyone is having a good week.

  3. More old planes! I just caught a Douglas DC-3 flying overhead, flanked by a Yakolev Yak-53.

  5. Nice! I got a good look at the B-17G as it flew over, and I nearly missed the P-38J Lightning that was following it.

  6. And another! This tiny blob is a P-51D Mustang from Duxford. It’s a shame they’re never quite close enough for a decent shot.

  7. "This is your last week to see "The Years Fly By: Airline Calendars from the Collection!" The promotional airline calendar is an enduring form of airline ephemera that is a marriage of the airlines’ brand identity with an object of daily utility in the home or office. The use of the calendar as a promotional tool for the airlines was forged in the 1930s and ‘40s and became common following World War II. Airlines invested considerable care and attention in making calendars that were visually stunning examples of graphic design. Such calendars promised rapid, comfortable travel to cities worldwide with scenes of the airline’s exciting destinations. "The Years Fly By: Airline Calendars" is on display, pre-security, in the Aviation Museum and Library. http://bit.ly/YearsFlyBy" This was posted to our Instagram account on October 02, 2017 – https://millsfield.sfomuseum.org/instagram/1729359033/

  9. "Introduced in the late 1930s, the British-produced Short S.30 series of aircraft was a large-capacity double-deck flying boat. Of the nine built, four were equipped with in-flight refueling capability and extra fuel tanks enabling them to perform regular transatlantic airmail service. In 1939, an S.30 inaugurated Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL) service, from Auckland to Sydney. Weekly service was later expanded to three flights every two weeks with connections to San Francisco on Pan American Airways flying boats operating out of Auckland. See "Aviation Evolutions: The Jim Lund 1:72 Scale Model Airplane Collection", which features more than 200 models, on display pre-security in the Aviation Museum. http://bit.ly/AviationEvolutions" This was posted to our Instagram account on January 17, 2019 – https://millsfield.sfomuseum.org/instagram/1729357073/
