#Alpine #SoilFauna season ended with an astonishing #hike close to #glacier.

As bonus we hiked up to the Hohe Wart (Guardia Alta, 3424m), which is on the crest towards the #Similaun (3606m)

#Mals #Malles 🇮🇹 is the terminus station of the #Vinschgau #ValVenosta railway line from #Meran.
The line re-opened some 20 years ago, after having been closed down in 1990. Today, #Stadler #GTW diesel units sustain a dense timetable and electrification works are ongoing.
#Mals station café has some nice pre-1990 photos, taken along the line, on display.

Installing some #alpine pittfall traps for #SoilFauna is fun and sometimes a bit challenging 🤠

However, the #BiodiversityMonitoringSouthTyrol investigates also the #SoilBiodiversity in the lowland and this year also the high alpine up to 3100m.
