  1. After procrastinating a decision about which Kanban tool to use, I finally weighed all the available choices and landed on @vikunja

I think this was the first time that a software having their presence on Mastodon made part of my reasons to choose something. Another one is the integration with Home Assistant.

So far, so good. Haven't used it for more than a few minutes to create some fake tasks, but it's been nice. Now I need to figure out how to migrate from my old Kanboard.

    codeberg.org/este-linux/aGGenda

  7. #HomeAssistant, #Vikunja todo list, and #Tandoor recipe manager are now migrated from my old webhost, to my new webhost.
Which is also secured by #CrowdSec.

  8. Looking for a #FOSS alternative to proprietary tools like Trello or Asana?

@vikunja is an open source, privacy-focused task management tool that’s lightweight, easy to use, and offers multiple views, including Kanban, Gantt, List, and Table.

See how it works, and why @morrolinux chose it over other task managers: lpi.org/se84

  14.  Christopher wrote the following post Fri, 30 Aug 2024 07:07:23 -0700 Success!  🎉🎉🎉 All of my services, including this instance, have successfully migrated to my new (new to me) server. I use @YunoHost. It's a great way to run server apps without being a complete expert, but allows (sometimes requires) the use of the command line. A great way to learn.
You don't even need fancy equipment. All of this can be run on an old desktop or laptop. Most of this can even run on a Raspberry Pi.
So, what am I running on my server?
    • #Streams - Social Media via Fediverse and federates with Flipboard, Threads, and millions of other sites.
    • #Nextcloud - Google Photos & Drive alternative, complete with object, landmark, facial, & location recognition & in-browser document editing. Includes tasks,  calendars, RSS Feed reader, Forms, Map location history, Notes, Music & Podcast player.
    • #Syncthing - Device to device file sync. No cloud needed. I mostly use to sync my Bible pdf markups & notes in Obsidian.
    • #Calibre Web - Ebook website that syncs books to you Kobo ereader.
    • #Audiobookshelf - website for audiobooks, podcasts, & ebooks.
    • #Actual - Home Budget Software.
    • #Peertube - Video sharing site similar to YouTube.
    • Matrix via Synapse - Encrypted Chat which should be the replacement of all other chat services due to its flexibility.
    • #Vikunja - A to do app with kanban & collaboration.
    • #WordPress site - Website hosting for multiple sites,  including our family website, my personal website, Tales of My Life website and a few others.

I'd be glad to help anyone wanting to learn how to get started. If you're looking to own your own data, this is the path to digital personal sovereignty. You do not own your posts or photos in Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter. You don't own your files or photos in iCloud, Google, Onedrive, or Dropbox. All these companies have to do is close your account for any reason (or no reason) and you've lost it all. Can you imagine losing all of your photos stored on Facebook or Google? 😱
    Self hosting is KING!
