It's day five of my #VidjaGameAwards2025 and I've lost interest so let's get down to it.
*Day 5: Game of the Year!*
Honourable Mentions: #Rematch, #Dispatch, #WuchangFallenFeathers and #HadesII. I love you all, and in another year maybe you'd be hoisting the much vaunted #VidjaGameAwards trophy, but alas it wasn't to be.
And now for our winner. My favourite game of 2025 is:
*Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*
To the surprise of absolutely no one.
I'm bored now so that's all I've got to say about it. Go play it if you somehow haven't decided if you want to or not yet.
For those who come after or something.

Day Four: **Game I Didn't Get Around To Playing**
Awarded to the game I most wanted to play, but didn't get around to.
And the winner is: #DonkeyKongBananza
Le sigh. I don't own a Nintendo Switch 2, not yet at least. I'll be rectifying that over the coming months, but right now, this wonderful game just wasn't available to me.
Real shame because after the success of Astro Bot last year, my household is primed for another colourful co-op platformer that we can all enjoy.
Honourable Mentions: #TheRootreesAreDead

Day Two: **Favourite Retro Game**
Awarded to the 'retro game' I most enjoyed playing in 2025.
And the winner is:
**Rhythm Tengoku**
Is 2006 retro? Am I that old? Who's to say? Me I guess...
Anyway. I've never really been a big rhythm game guy. Until I stumbled on this weird collection of rhythm based mini-games.
Baseball in space, check. Ninja's chopping monsters? check. Mice running between plates of cheese? Check. This game has it all. And its all the better for it.
Congratulations #RhythmTengoku

Day One: **2024's 2025 Game of the Year**
Awarded to a game I played in 2025 that originally came out in 2024, but for whatever reason, I neglected to play.
And the winner is:
**ASTRO BOT**
Rarely does a game fill me with the simple joy of play. Each frame of this game is designed to elicit wonder and happiness from the player, from the way it lightly taps your nostalgia gland to the way the characters interact and bounce and weave and squish. It's an absolute joy and a game that I wish I could experience for the first time all over again.
And it's my favourite game from 2024. Unfortunately I didn't play it until 2025.
Congratulations #AstroBot.
