Took a while, but they finally acknowledged the issue on their website (even though the outage has been ongoing since 4pm yesterday).
Hydro Quebec’s app shows the location of the power outage. Apparently there was a fire in the area yesterday. Very possibly the power is being left off intentionally so utilities can be repaired.

In typical #Videotron fashion, you have to phone them up to find out there’s a real outage, because updating your public status page is apparently too difficult. It’s like they’re an ISP from the 90s.

Exasperated with the sabotaged instability of #ElectronicBox's #vidéotron cable Internet reseller service in recent months after eBox was acquired by #Bell, I have now bit the bullet and switched my parents' home over to eBox's Bell #FTTH Internet reseller service.
I took the opportunity to cleanly wallmount the Nokia FTTH ONT device and the house's GrandStream analog telephone VoIP adapter, right next to Bell's FTTH demarcation point.

I'm baffled...again. My carrier raised my monthly rate by $2. Not a big deal but it makes no sense. If they'd left things alone, I wouldn't be looking elsewhere. Now, I can easily get more for less than what I was paying before the increase. Why would they lose a 5 year customer for $2? I'm in Canada. Mobile rates suck, at least in Ontario. Fido is the culprit. Videotron and Freedom, same company, are looking very attractive. What did I miss here?
