Here's the view from my camera. The synthy thing is a video synth. (sorry for the quiet audio, I'll put in the desktop audio once I edit it)
My first day participating in #weekofpatching (day 2). I'm quite rusty so opted for something similar using vcv rack with the #monome grid sequencer, and an analog video synth for visuals.
I filmed a whole 10-minute performance but I'm gonna have to edit and retroactively post about the process on my blog as I'm off to a gig!
I cleaned up my OBS configs and got a video recording. It's all needlessly complicated.
The visuals are kinda being controlled by midi via *deep breath* TidalCycles midi > Univer Inter midi to CV module > 3trinsRGB video synth > video output to capture card > composited under TidalCycles code in OBS.
I've owned most of my video synth for two years but every few months I reread the instruction manuals for different modules and discover something new. In DWO3 I finally now understand what the RST input does.
In this video I mostly combining DWO3 with Solaire and DSG3.
Also adding in that recent VCV patch for audio.
Working on some hybrid HD/SD video techniques. This required using many cables but the result is that if I have something with a transparent background I can add in some nice analog glitches and effects. #videosynthesis #glitchart #feedback #videofeedback

I found this video on my computer of a anti piracy campaign from 1992 and decided to run it through my video synthesiser. Its slogan "Don't copy that floppy" warned that if piracy continues creative industries will fail.
Fast forward to 2025 and tech bros are being given free reign to steal from creators to feed their AI slop machines and are being hailed as innovators. Clearly it's only stealing if we do it.
Might go copy me a floppy or two.

Just received a midi to CV converter and now I can demo how to use Pure Data for some basic audio reactivity yay https://youtu.be/pF9rb0F8apo
As you can see it's a bit slow to update as the data has to go from, in this instance: Tidal > PD > Midi-to-CV and then to show on screen after receiving midi: LZX modules > component-to-hdmi converter > hdmi capture card > obs.
So yeah, lots of latency. Still I can see myself syncing it to a midi device somehow. #eurorack #videosynthesis

I thiiiiink this one was run through a compressor. Or maybe not. Either way, I like it but it's a bit mushy. Kinda just like turning up the saturation in a video editor.
This one is run through a bit crushing plugin. I'm finding the best results are when I use plugins that dramatically alter a sound or have some sort of LFO.
Other effects like amplifiers or saturators just tend to make things mushy or, um, oversaturated.
I have also been taking these animations and running them through some new databending techniques that I'm developing.
Here's one of the synth videos run through a tape emulation plugin. As you can see the wobble and wow/flutter is visually represented, alongside some glitches
