One of the nifty things that hydra offers is the .smooth() method on arrays like in \[.2,-.4,.04\].smooth(0.05). This smoothens out transitions between these values over time. And that's just one of the nifty things...

I'm continuing to make slow progress re: learning the Hydra video synth.
I've gotten to the point where the screen is divided into four quadrants, each with it's own animation. Well, one of them is playing an .mp4 video from the NY Times and another is text that comes and goes.
Most are reacting to audio (supercool), and after including a MIDI library, I can trigger a change to the display via a Note On (again, supercool).
But multiple display changes (replacing the current behavior with a new one) isn't working. Not completely sure why, but big-time progress!
Every day I'm learning something new with this thing.
My goal is to record a successful track (audio/video) to OBS and share it.

This week, I’ve been learning how to code a video synth in a browser. While I’ve been able to create cool visuals all week long, today I’m finally to the point of getting it to react to sound. Pretty cool.
Video & sound quality is pretty low in this example. I'll record better in OBS pretty soon.

I play bass and electronic instruments, do some experimental video work, and live on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i.
Some things I've done that I love going on and on about: spent time in Bulgaria studying the concept of authenticity in relation to folk music, co-founded Community of Sound in Burlington Vermont, been an internationally ranked biathlon competitor (we won't say what that rank was though hahah).
My music often involves free improvisation, collaborations, and sometimes contemporary art music compositions.
My site is hand coded, has an RSS feed, and loads really fast.
