Need to convert a local mkv to mp4. Got (thru AM #AppImage package manager) #Gharmonize & tried it
1. "Upload": to where?? I want local
2. Choices required in dropdown menus... where nothing drops down
3. "Help"... doesn't even say what version it is, let alone help
4. "Settings"... does nothing at allBonus: UI a non-native mishmash, like Electron & Gnome had a monstrous lovechild you'd lock away in the attic

😆 I hated RealPlayer even as a kid, QuickTime was always superior... I’m so glad we have video format standards now!
There was also a brief annoying period where Windows Media Video format had a lot of marketshare but M$ didn’t always make a Mac version of the player. Thankfully there was a third-party codec for QuickTime.
Let’s not forget about DivX for fansub anime!

Have you ever encountered VLC unable to play a .mkv file when your machine is plugged into hdmi? I have this .mkv file that will play fine on my MacBook screen, but if I plug an hdmi cable into my MacBook to output to a projector, VLC just shows a black screen, even after restarting VLC.
Thankfully I was able to get what I wanted playing over the projector from a different source and in a different format but I'm still really confused. #VLC #mkv #hdmi #tech #VideoFormats #codecs #mac
