Currently reading The Devil in Silver by Victor LaValle and wow is he an amazing writer! Listen to this wonderful turn of phrase (and it's the first sentence too!): "They brought the big man in on a winter night when the moon looked as hazy as the heart of an ice cube." ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Started Lone Women by Victor LaValle without paying a lot of attention. The first few sentences of the summary sold me.

Enjoyed it a lot, but surprised to find out the book was nominated for Goodread's book of the year in the Horror category.

I really wouldn't call this book horror as there is no sense of dread or fear, which to me are crucial aspects of horror.

Apparently for some the appearance of a "monster" is enough to classify a book as horror.
