Does anyone use Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics vmagent and (AWS) EC2 Service Discovery with your PromScrape config? I am running it on a server with an IAM Profile that has read-only access to EC2 but:

skipping some ec2_sd_config targets for job_name=ec2_instances because of error: error when fetching instances data from EC2: cannot obtain instances: unexpected status code for "https://ec2.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/?Action=DescribeInstances&Version=2016-11-15"; got 401; want 200;

I guess it doesn't know how to use an IAM Profile?

Everything in life has pros and cons: Kubernetes in the home lab makes a lot of things more complicated, but a lot of other things less complicated. Replacing Telegraf + InfluxDB with Node Exporter and sending directly to Victoria Metrics gives me much more visibility on the Raspberry Pis. On top of that, using SNMP Exporter to collect data from Synology allows me to completely get rid of containers running inside an appliance. Silver linings.

Ich habe #victoriametrics in einen #proxmox Container installiert. Da schreiben jetzt zwei #HomeAssistant via #influxdb addon ihre Daten rein. In zwei Monaten sind da nun ca. 70-80MB zusammen gekommen (Daten aus PV, Wärmepumpe, Wetterstation, Temperatursensoren, ...)

Сегодня я хочу рассказать о нашем опыте построения и развития инфраструктуры мониторинга в одном из крупнейших банков России – Россельхозбанке. Привет, Хабр! Меня зовут Сергей Смирнов, я DevOps экосистемы «Своё» в РСХБ.Цифра. Речь пойдет не о всей гигантской IT-инфраструктуре банка, а о ее специфической части. Мы работаем с тем, что можно назвать «внешним облаком» РСХБ. I'm getting better at Grafana. Turns out the issue is really: not having nicely labeled metrics more than the inherent difficulty of promql/metricsql queries.

You inevitably end up with like 6 different exporters on some systems that you split in jobs due to various differences in refresh or cost, so turns out taking the time to setup some relabeling so you have a handful of common labels across all exporters added on ingestion is kind of a game changer. I can now do what would have been a complex join by just filtering on two fields, and my graphs populate and it's a good time.
