The Danish writer and poet Hans Christian Andersen travelled to Spain in 1862. Shortly after returning, he published a spirited travel book, In Spain, which also includes a number of quasi-sensual poems.
'The Lotus Flower' [Lotusblomsten] is one of these poems that show a lesser known side of the poet.
The video includes subtitles in Danish, English and Spanish.

"Angel of Light" is a hymn from the Romantic era, composed by C.E.F. Weyse in 1837, and familiar to any Dane of almost any age.
Nevertheless, in this modern setting by contemporary composer Poul Udbye Pock-Steen the original light-spirited melody is led on a musical excursion towards the darker hidden sides of the mind ..... :)

It's been 10 years since Via Artis recorded the #Mexican Christmas song 'Convidando está la noche' in San Esteban de La Sierra, Spain.
The title translates to something like "The Night Invites", referring to #Christmas night.
The song itself is almost 400 years old, so a decade more or less doesn't really matter in this context 🙂

Baroque music from the New World: Anaustia is a popular Baroque tune, probably from around the XVII century, found in the archives of the Jesuit Missions in Bolivia.
This kind of Latinamerican Baroque music, influenced by Spanish Baroque music but based on a local tune, was quite common in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The words of the tune are in the local Chiquitano language.

'Vuestros ojos' is a #Spanish #melancholic song found in a 1610 collection of #songs titled "A Musicall Banquet" edited by Robert #Dowland (1591-1641). Robert was the son of the 'father' (John Dowland) of the melancholic wave, that was sweeping Europe at the time
'Vuestros ojos' was a popular song in that melancholic #fashion, but added a Spanish temperament!
