We recently adopted a cat. He is a black cat, but his fur is ticked. It is black at the tips of the hairs but white at the bottoms.

It also is crimped / wavy; so are his whiskers. Is this similar to American Wirehair hair and whiskers? I looked for close-up images, but was unable to find any.

I learned recently that minipigs smell like maple syrup. They are my new favorite obscure weird smell now. I've only worked with farm breeds previously, and I can see now why people would have minipigs as pets. They also love fruit and brushies. ❤️

Talks by Isabella Spaans and Anne-Roos Verbree (both from UMC Utrecht) on role models for students in human MedEd gave me much to think about; we very much need diverse role models in veterinary MedEd, but this needs careful attention. Being the only lighthouse in the midst of other kinds of buildings can be a lonely place to be.
