In 1986, Dian Fossey hired Dr. James Foster—the first Gorilla Doctor. Mountain gorillas: 248. Today: 880. They operate under One Health: gorilla health, human health, and ecosystems are linked. Gorillas share 98.5% DNA with humans. Teams in Rwanda, Uganda, and Congo visit gorilla groups three times weekly. They dart animals, treat snare wounds, infections, parasites. Each gorilla matters.
