  2. @marymimouna @military-war-veterans-issues-marymimouna I used to judge Vice-President JD Vance’s appearance and thought he looked evil. Then this #veteransday I realized he has been through traumatic experiences, because of war in #Iraq.

Thank you for covering this less talked about aspect of his life.

“I am here because I’m enraged. I need some place to put that rage,” said Kayla Harris, an IL National Guard vet. “I’m enraged about deportations. I’m enraged about children being taken from their homes, their parents. It’s ridiculous. That’s not what I serve for, I’ll tell you that!” #VeteransDay

“At #VeteransDay rally, vets blast Trump on immigration, VA service cuts.

Veterans gathered at the Vietnam War Memorial, where speakers decried ICE arrests, cuts to veterans benefits and ‘attacks are to divide and conquer working people.’”

  7. Veterans have lined up outside the ICE detention center in Portland, standing in solidarity and calling for accountability and lawful conduct by federal officers. Their message: Those who once defended the Constitution are now standing to ensure it's upheld at home. #VeteransDay #Portland #NoICE

  8. As long as we have a military, we are grateful to those individuals of good character who choose to serve. Each United States service member has sworn an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.

Especially considering the current Commander in Chief and Secretary of Defense, we are grateful that all our immediate family members’ commitments of service have been completed.

The final military assignment of our most beloved living veteran—our son, who served in the U.S. Navy—was as part of the NATO Coalition providing the first Ukrainian defense. He followed a line of family members who also served honorably, including our beloved dad, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in the Pacific during World War II.

A bugler played Retreat in the distance as we cut this eve’s salad. And we were reminded again that the freedoms we enjoy are not a given everywhere.

  9. It's still Veterans Day, so here's my veteran dad, who is now 100. He never ever talks about his service in Europe during WWII.

  10. (1) ran 4 miles this morning. Probably should have taken it a bit easier. Usually do the pool after running on Tuesdays, but closed on Veterans Day. 😠

    (2) carpet cleaned the basement in anticipation of entertaining during Thanksgiving. Wow - the carpet really needed it.

    (3) took a nap. It is Veterans Day after all. ;-)

  11. My WWII US Navy father was the toughest man I’ve ever known. He lied about his age in order to serve his nation and fight against fascism. I never saw him cry. I believe the destruction of our democracy by the GOP fascist regime would bring him to tears. I resist in his memory. #VeteransDay #Navy
