:boost_requested: Looking for info/knowledge
Does anyone have any experience (or know anyone that does) with egg-laying survivors of PPMV? Or other egg-laying bird survivors of PMV/Newcastle Disease?
Long shot, I know. But I have a pigeon hen who recovered from PPMV back in December '25 but has still been unable to lay despite going through all of the motions (courtship > mating > nesting > nest sitting - no eggs, she'll sit on nothing & demand shift swaps from her mate).
She is otherwise healthy.
Just curious if this is permanent or if there's a chance she will lay again.
So far I've only found very little anecdotal information on Reddit & the odd scientific report about reduced egg laying in chickens & turkeys.#advice #vet #avianvet #ppmv #pmv #paramyxovirus #newcastledisease

Thank you all - I know others responded elsewhere in the thread, so they're not tagged above - for your good wishes and concern. I have good news to report: George is okay, and is likely to fully recover.
It was a bit of an adventure, and George was in the hospital for six days & nights. There were some scheduling issues that meant he stayed a bit longer than he might have, like a CT that couldn't be done until the next day, adding a night to his stay. There was another procedure that was delayed after he'd been anaesthetized, so he had to recover from the anaesthetic and then do it all again the next day.
Needless to say, I had not originally intended to be in Saskatoon that long. I only packed three days' clothes, for example 😉 . And I had no access to the internet, because I'm a freak who doesn't have a cellphone. I'm sorry for any worry the lack of updates gave any of you.

So my Labor Day has been a tough one. Olive our 2 1/2 yr old Airedoodle was throwing up and pooping all over. We took her to the ER yesterday got her checked out.
Today, we took her to the vet for a follow up x-ray and she still has something in her stomach. She hasn’t eaten food since Sunday at 7pm, so this isn’t good.
So Mere took her back to the ER (45 mins away) to have an ultrasound and possible surgery. Thank goodness Mere has personal days. ✌️
She’s sluggish, due to the lack of food and not feeling good. Poor baby. 🐶
Recently she ate a Wendy’s Ketchup packet but puked that back up. Then there was a popsicle stick. Ugh. Why?!?!!!?!
Here’s hoping that what we see on the x-rays is just inflammation and not a foreign mass that isn’t edible.
Olive can be such a blockhead sometimes.
Send positive thoughts. I’ll update this post as we know more. 😵💫😒😭
