  1. Vestrahorn Iceland and the Flowing Atlantic

This photograph captures Vestrahorn rising above the sweeping black sand shoreline of the Stokksnes peninsula, as the Atlantic Ocean moves steadily along the coast. The jagged peaks form a powerful backdrop, their angular ridgelines sharply defined beneath clear blue skies.

  5. There was an amazing sunset behind the mountains and the glacier, while horses were walking through the water towards a small island.
This was the view from Viking Café near Vestrahorn.

    Iceland, September 2019.

  6. I didn't get the coveted moody photos of Vestrahorn mountain because I was there in Stokksnes on an unseasonably warm and sunny day, but at least I also didn't fail to see the peaks as there was no fog to block the view so I'd count it as a win.

  7. For anyone interested, this is the last photo I took just before I was suddenly dragged out to sea by the force of the North Atlantic Ocean currents at Vestrahorn Iceland and saved by another photographer who saw me in distress.

So glad I was able to save my precious Canon (which was on a tripod and I held it high over my head) as even though I was in shock and struggling, that's all I could think about at the time 🙏 ... crazy photographers!

  8. A very beautiful but extremely windy place to photograph... All looks calm in the photo, but had to battle hard against the black sand constantly blasting us... It gave my whole face a good exfoliation though 🙂

I was suddenly hit hard by a king wave on the shoreline while photographing the ocean here and nearly dragged out to sea but fortunately was rescued by a very fit fellow male photographer who literally saved my life and dragged me back to shore. The force of the extremely strong Atlantic Ocean currents.

"The mountain at #Vestrahorn aka #Stokksnes is one of Iceland’s few Gabbro rock mountains. Dating back 8-11million years, the site was used by the first settlers (Irish) before they were enslaved by Viking invaders (c.860).

As a gesture of goodwill to the Nation of Ireland, it has been suggested that the land be given back to the Irish, but as a National Park where visitors are free to roam as nature intended."
